While verifying rules we found yet another subtle mismatch. Treating recently called coins as candidates in live, versus coins created in a certain window as candidates in backtest, had quietly diverged. Since the same rule yields different results depending on which coins form the candidate universe, this could not be left alone. So we unified the definition so both sides narrow candidates by the same criterion. Confirming again and again that a single small definition can sway the results, we gradually learned to distrust the data.
